Today’s business environment is more competitive than ever. Success depends upon people moving in the same direction. They must align their activities with the strategic direction of the entire organization. To achieve this, they they must gain a complete understanding of:

• How the business works

• How the company makes money

• How cash flows through the company

• How important positive cash flow is to success

• How to measure results. And key financial metrics

• How decisions in one area impact the "big picture" (and the importance of teamwork)

• How daily decisions impact the financial success of the company

• How to utilize limited resources

• How to align their efforts with the business strategy

WHAT IS BUSINESS REALITY™ 101?

Business Reality 101™ (BR101) is an exciting new suite of product offerings

from Business Methodologies International, Ltd. (BMI).

It is a board-based learning simulation that replicates all of the financial flows of capital that circulates through an organization. It also is experiential in nature. This means that rather than have the employees sit through a lecture class, they are put in the roles of business owners and are challenged to make ‘real-world’ decisions as to how to ‘manage the business’ in a way that drives the best possible financial results.

There are currently four BR101™ course offerings:

         HEALTHCARE

         Business Reality 101™  Healthcare Version

This program is designed for individual contributors, front line managers and supervisors. It is ideal for those individuals that impact the business but may have little to know financial background.

The program deals with the following areas of the business:

How hospitals, medical centers or physician groups work, cash flow, the effect of quality and efficiency on driving patient satisfaction’ medical centers Performance Indicators, what they are, how they are measured and what they as clinicians can do to drive those results upward, how decisions in one area of the enterprise impacts the overall operation, how to better utilize both personnel and resources more effectively, supply-chain management, forecasting and scheduling and much more.

The program is focused on helping clinicians and non-financial administrative employees understand how what they do directly impacts the health of the organization. At the same time, debriefs are then directed toward how these functional improvements directly impact the quality of patient care provided by the medical staff.

         MANUFACTURING

         Business Reality 101™ Manufacturing Version

This program is designed for individual contributors, front line managers and supervisors. It is ideal for those individuals that impact the business but may have little to know financial background.

The program deals with the following areas of the business:

Cash flow, supply-chain, inventory control, inventory turns, obsolete inventory, company-specific performance indicators, lean thought processes, capital equipment purchases and the effect that increased efficiency and productivity have on cost controls and bottom-line driven results.

Also included in the program are issues surrounding activities like overtime vs. increased efficiency.

The affects of flexibility on the enterprise and the increased ability to meet market demands.

The program is unique in that it forces ‘the management teams’ (Participants work in teams of three or four. Each team represents the management team for their simulated company.) to choose a strategic direction to take their ‘company’.

Participants actually run a simulated business for two years and fill out the income statements and balance sheets. This activity roots them in the language of business. The Performance Indicators used in the program and are typically provided to us from the client. This is important because the participants end up calculating their real-world performance indicators. In this way the learner sees what is important, understands why they are calculated, but more importantly, they understand what they can do individually to help drive those numbers in the appropriate direction.

         DISTRIBUTION

Business Reality 101™ - Distribution Version

This program is designed for individual contributors, front line managers and supervisors. It is ideal for those individuals that impact the business but may have little to know financial background.

The program is unique in that it forces ‘the management teams’ (Participants work in teams of three or four. Each team represents the management team for their simulated company.) to choose a strategic direction to take their ‘company’.

Besides choosing a short-term strategy, the participants are challenged with daily ‘issues’. These issues are pre-determined through work done with the sponsoring company.
